Deep and Meaningful

How deep and meaningful can a deep and meaningful conversation be with a 3 year old? turns out our 3 year old can get very deep. After her shower last night we were talking about who i am and what she can call me. Sometimes she calls me Mum sometimes Sophie, and sometimes im Sophie Mum. Then she brushed my hair and i dried her hair and we had a beautiful happy night for once, with no screaming at me. It was nice!

Easter

Had our first Easter with our wee chicken! It wasn't quite what I expected, but nothing ever is. My parents and the pooch and my sister and her man came over and we all went out to the park/reserve thing for a picnic. We walked around one of the walkways, fed the ducks and played at the various playgrounds around the walkway. We had great weather and a lot of fun. And I was organised for once, I had wet wipes and water and tissues and hair ties and when people needed these things I had them! I’m learning, I have to carry everything in my bag, it’s full of things I never realised one could need on a daily basis, but oh boy are they life savers! From muesli bars to mini water bottles and a spare set of clothes for Miss M. Got some pretty cute pictures too, more to come...

Life Changing

Wow I haven't been here for a while! A lot has changed in my life since then. Moving cities twice and meeting new people, learning new things. Especially in the last 6 months- I have inherited a beautiful, amazing little girl. She has turned my life upside down, I’m doing things I didn’t see myself doing for a few years yet. It’s magical and terrifying and wonderful and I wouldn't change it for the world. As a couple she challenges us to our full extent. Making us work together like I never imagined. She is moving in with us full time in a few days and we have long discussions about where her home is and "are you my Mum?" and what about Nana (who she currently lives with the rest of the week when she is not with us.) Sometimes it’s Daddy and Mum and sometimes its Daddy and Sophie. I guess she is learning about my role in her life now that her Bio Mother is mostly out of the picture. I’m looking forward to the years we get to spend together as a family of 3... Maybe more in the years to come. But for now... Our first Easter together!

my 3 year relationship is over... with Fashion School

all over and done. slightly weird to be honest. will miss the fashion school kids. been with them for 3 long hard years. through the good times and the bad, the late nights and early mornings. from 1st year presentations where noone wanted to go first to the 3rd year fights over who goes first. its been a magic ride. its been fun. and super glad i didnt quit even though i was sooo tempted.

Had our fashion show on friday night. was fun, but a lot of hard work went into it. the lead up week was crazy chaos!

untill we meet again

just like that its all over. well not totally over. but all my outfits, shoes, jewellery and lookbook is handed ready to be marked. presentation was yesterday. its a bit exciting to see all my hard work together in a line up. but sad at the same time. thinking that this is it. there is no more. i shall have to keep sewing though otherwise i will go crazy! just going to be organising the runway show on the 18th of this month till then. heres a sneek peek at my collection...

i have to come up with a 50 word statement about myself as a designer. 50 words is not much to work with, its been hard! we also needed to have a quote. and there are some beauts out there. i really love A.A Milne quotes as they are relatively funny but have a serious message. and they really make you think. i found a few that sums me up pretty well, but i'm not using them in my final as it makes me look like a scatter brain, which i am, but we don't need everyone knowing that!

Hair. who'd have thought there would be so many arguments over someone elses! my original idea was shut down, and one of my other ideas chosen! so then because id gotten "my" hair i have very little say in make up. oh the joys of working together on separate looks! collections are fun. and tiring. its easier to just agree sometimes.

however, i get to pick my very own hair and make up for my creative photo shoot! as long as Mum, my sister or I can do it!

and then it snowed some more...

it snowed. and then it snowed some more. it was awesome! i totally love snow. except when im actually trying get somewhere. i went home on Friday night for the weekend, an 80min drive north. it snowed Saturday night. and it kept on snowing! the local schools had a snow day on the Monday and no buses were going, same with Tuesday  but i needed to get to Dunedin for class! i managed to get a ticket for Thursday! and there was still snow on the way down! i managed to get to Dunedin nearly a week after id left! whoops. missed a whole lot of class... and had lots a catching up to do! ah well. it was fun to make snow angels!

Exhibition

I'm not heaps keen on group work, i like to do thing at my own pace, but i cant since there is a whole group and we have to work together. however its pretty awesome since its only a group of 4. actually i take that back... group work is pretty good. everyone does a bit of everything. and I've really liked working with other people from the rest of our design course. its great to get a bit of knowledge on how other people work. this is our exhibition... its sounding really great at presentations last Wednesday. cant wait for opening night! and I'm part of the publicity team, its been a fun ride... not long till its over

Showcase

am starting my final collection for showcase at the end of the year. very scary. however i do have a few ideas... am starting to pattern-make and toile now... getting exciting! :) my starter was a photo of my Mums grandparents at the beach in England in 1945. and i started looking into the Land Army Girls. really very interesting learning about them.

I have started a Millinery course for 3 weeks. i was looking at different hats of different eras and came across these... so naturally i raced down the the movie hire place and got out "Funny Face" "Sabrina" and i ended up getting "The September Issue" as well. will head back this weekend to get more out... im totally in love with Audrey Hepburn!

Muse: "the goddess or the power regarded as inspiring a poet, artist, thinker, or the like." this is not quite what i had in mind when we were told to find a muse for this project. so now I'm a little confused. i think they meant character... a person, especially with reference to behavior or personality, a person represented in a drama, story, etc. a part or role, as in a play or film. so I've looked through my many albums of ideas and images and i think she is in here... 


I'm deciding between inspired by this feeling and would you like to swing on a star.. somewhere in the middle and the end one. i just cant decide. maybe ill sleep on it.. or what about Sugar Snap. ?!
